Eco Friendly plastic free; The OKIDO Magazine is Full of Environmental Activities

OKIDO eco friendly magazine has been teaching and encouraging our children to restore, care and respect our earth since 2007.

Created by parents for parents, OKIDO magazine began as an antithesis to plastic-covered children’s magazines and comics. At the time, most titles smothered shelves with plastic-wrapped issues and throwaway toys. Nearly 15 years later, those plastic-covered publications still clutter our supermarkets, homes, rivers and seas. OKIDO magazine has never wrapped itself in plastic or included a ‘free’ plastic toy. We refuse to torment young children at the till point with pointless plastic.

Beyond all this, OKIDO magazine has some of the best green credentials available. It’s printed in the UK using only recycled or FSC papers and biodegradable vegetable ink. If it wasn’t for the staples, you could even eat it!

You won’t find an ‘eco’ themed issue of OKIDO in our back-issue bundles. Every single issue is designed around teaching environmental principles and a thoughtful approach to the planet. We focus on caring for its resources and understanding our impact. We incorporate environmental activities for kids into each and every issue. All of these activities use easily found objects around the home or recyclable junk. We also use things that can be found in nature, and only when in abundance.

Whether the issue theme is ‘hair’, ‘seeds’, ‘the moon’, ‘insects’ or ‘my body’, OKIDO issues stay consistent. Each issue of OKIDO magazine is packed with learning-through-play science activities for kids and rich STEAM content. Every activity is designed with environmental care and responsibility at its core.

We’re delighted that the current climate demands other publications improve their eco credentials. OKIDO magazine can continue to provide our curious children with much more than just a magazine. OKIDO is an artist’s studio and a scientist’s lab. It is also a test kitchen, a nature trail and a rocket station. It becomes anything else we can encourage our children to imagine and create.

All of this from the same, original, parent-led team, working to the same high standards and principles. For all of us.
