Who is behind KURIO
KURIO was created by Dr Sophie Dauvois — scientist, educator, and co-founder of OKIDO — alongside Alex Barrow, Editor of KURIO, a London-based illustrator and children’s book author.
As the original OKIDO audience grew older, we saw a clear need for a magazine that could continue to nurture curiosity — but with greater depth, challenge, and space for independent thinking. KURIO was developed as the next step: thoughtful, in-depth content designed for older children ready to question the world around them.
Alex Barrow, a long-time contributor to OKIDO, brings KURIO to life through imaginative storytelling and a strong visual identity that speaks directly to curious, creative minds.
Alongside its core team, KURIO collaborates with new and emerging artists, writers, and creators, whose comics, articles, and ideas appear throughout the magazine — making each issue a rich, collective exploration of culture, science, and creativity.
